We had the opportunity to provide uplighting for The Big Fake Wedding in Boston where wedding vendors convened to provide services for a fake wedding (real couple) to show attending couples a bit about weddings and what goes into them. The warehouse space was small and once everyone was set up, it was clear that we had very limited space. We were set up in what looked like a small unfinished garage space that was attached to the main warehouse industrial space. Although there were only about 20 couples that actually attended, it was a cool experience. (Ask me about the insecure wedding DJ in the other room who needed to set up his own uplights in his space even though we were supposed to be the only lighting vendor at The Big Fake Wedding – you can see from the main room photos that you can’t even see his uplights even though they are on!)
This was like a reverse bridal show that I’ve been dying to be a part of for years now since I heard about it. I think I built it up bigger in my mind or Covid drastically impacted the attendance – it was a big letdown. Just like most bridal attendees, most already had their wedding vendors picked out or never responded to any of our follow-ups. Well, we got a few amazing photos out of it!
